CCNA, Cisco Certified Network Associate

Overview

Cisco Systems is a giant in the world of internetworking. CCNA is a desirable certification that will boost the career prospects of any networking professional, the certification indicates advanced knowledge of networks. The successful CCNA candidate will leave with an expansive knowledge of Cisco routing and switching solutions as well as a wealth of practical experience.

Achieving the CCNA

The CCNA is achieved with 2 seperate course modules. First you attend the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) and then follow this with the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2). After sitting these 2 courses you can either take a seperate exam for each week or a single, combined, CCNA exam.

Path 1: 1 Exam

The second method to attain the CCNA involves taking a single exam. The single exam includes content from both the ICND1 and ICND2 courses.

Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 (ICND2)

Upon completing the two courses and passing the exam  the student will have attained the CCNA qualification which will be valid for a period of three years. The two courses take a total of 10 days to complete.

Path 2: 2 Exams

After sitting the ICND1 course you can take the 640-822. Upon passing this exam the student attains the CCENT qualification which is valid for 12 months.

Inerconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1)

The candidate may then sit the ICND 2 course and take the appropriate examination.

Upon completing both exams the student will have attained the CCNA qualification which will be valid for a period of three years. The two courses take a total of 10 days to complete.
