MCITP Enterprise Administrator

Overview

The MCITP Enterprise Administrator qualification alidates your ability to design Windows Server infrastructures; evaluate and recommend new technology solutions; serve as an escalation point for infrastructure issues; develop client and server best practices for other teams, such as engineering, development, and operations; keep policy current for authentication, identity, and access management; provide guidance in implementing security policies that affect the infrastructure on multiple levels; participate in application reviews on security; and ensure that the applications adhere to standard security guidelines and practices.

This certification encompasses the Server 2008 operating system as well as a more thorough understanding of networking services like DNS, DHCP, Web servers and more. More Microsoft specific services like Active Directory and Group Policies are covered, including use of utilities and management tools to ensure all-round management and understanding of a Windows network.

Achieving the MCITP Enterprise Administrator

There are many different paths to attaining your MCITP Enterprise Administrator certification. We offer two different paths for you choose from depending on experience and prior qualifications.

Path 1: From Scratch

For the candidate with no prior Microsoft qualifications we offer a ground up approach to achieving your MCITP Enterprise Administrator qualification. this requires the student to first sit four MCTS modules. These four courses teach students the basics of managing a Windows Server 2008 network infrastructure as well as managing Active Directory. They also include management of Windows 7 as a client operating system.

70-680 TS: Configuring Windows 7
70-640 TS: Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory
70-642 TS: Configuring Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure
70-643 TS: Configuring Windows Server 2008 Application Infrastructure

Once these courses have been completed the student can sit on the assoctiated PRO course.

70-647 PRO: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator

Upon completion of all five exams the student will have attained the qualification.

Path 2: Upgrading an Exisiting MCSE 2003

For any candidate with an exisiting MCSE 2003 an upgrade path is available to take you to MCITP Enterprise Administrator. It requires two exams covered in a single weeks course. In addition you will need an MCTS in Windows 7.

Windows Server 2008 Upgrade Week for MCSA/MCSE 2003

Upon completing this course you will need to take the following exams.

70-680 TS: Configuring Windows 7
70-649 TS: Upgrading Your MCSE on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008
70-647 PRO: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator

Once all exams have been taken the student will have attained the qualification. If after the upgrade week the student does not feel confident in taking both exams we highly recommend sitting the PRO course week seperately.
